debuts in Australia with Art Exhibition and Concerts

5 June 2024

Dresden, Germany — Renowned artist and musician Moritz Simon Geist is set to make his Australian debut, showcasing his works "Don't Look at Me" and "Tripods One." Known for his innovative fusion of robotics, AI, electronic music, and avant-garde performance art, Geist will present his installations and performances at the prestigious International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA) in Brisbane, followed by concerts in Brisbane and Sydney.

"These are new machines, manufacturing a new kind of machine music.”
Fast Company

“It doesn't get geekier than this.”
New York Times

"Don't Look at Me" This interactive installation responds to the presence and attention of viewers with sound and movement. The more attention it receives, the more stressed and disharmonic it becomes. Conversely, with minimal attention, the entity emits harmonious sounds and slow movements. The work is designed to challenge the attention-driven algorithms of social media, prompting reflections on the interconnectedness of beings, machines, and their environments. Drawing inspiration from avant-garde acoustic designs by Harry Partch and the tensegrity principles by Buckminster Fuller and Kenneth Snelson, the installation offers a profound commentary on the nature of attention in the digital age.

"Tripods One" "Tripods One" is a futuristic sound robot performance that envisions a new era of human-machine interaction. Played live by Moritz Simon Geist, the robot uses small mechanics and physical tone generators to produce electronic music. This performance continues Geist's exploration of robotic music, and is a result of extensive prototyping and innovative design processes, including 3D printing, CNC milling, and laser cutting.
