2014 - Progress and Future
After I quit my day job as a engineer beginning of this year and started to work full time on music robots - I ironically produced less publications, did less shows & music and wrote less articles. This is due to the fact that after playing nearly 40 shows in 2014 I needed some time in my workshop to reassemble myself as well as think about new robots. There still were some events in 2014 that I couldn't resist doing.
Up to now
The show with Jan and Andi from Mouse On Mars at the Volksbühne Berlin beginning of this year, which led to an ongoing collaboration for various projects. If you never met Jan and Andi, let me assure you: they work hard since 1993 and I trust them to have ideas for the next 21 years, too.On the "Art Rock" Festival in Brittany (F) we presented an interactive version of the MR-808 for 10 days, which was fun for kids and adults. Nearly 6000 people (not in the picture) touched the MR-808 robot! It was also there that I made friends with some very enlightening robot freaks. The 8-headed crew from compressorhead around Frank Barnes, which presented their pneumatic robots-only rock band:Patrick Tresset, with his wonderful drawing robot "Paul":Peter (just living 100km away from me in Leipzig!) with hiw robotic dance performance "Vicious Circle":
Future
In only a little time my workshop will spit out two new sound machines, one which is dedicated to small sounds from the 2000s clicks and cuts era. A glitch robot! The other one is still a secret. So the rest of 2014 will be like: 3D printing, experimenting and hurting human flesh with the soldering iron ("If it smells like chicken your holding it the wrong way!"). Fun!
